Kristjan is addicted to the game of ag. Farming is in his blood and he is driven by accomplishing goals with his team and family. In his free time he loves nothing more than coaching hockey and creating experiences with his wife Theresa and kids, Bentley and Ivy.

In the world of agriculture Evan believes change is constant, so dream big and innovate fast! He thrives on the constant changes at HGV, and rising to the challenge to stay ahead of the curve. When he’s out of the office his focus is on the three F’s – Family, Fitness and Friends.
Integrator + VP of Grain Operations
When it comes to his work life at HGV, Jeff greatly enjoys the people he works with – including the HGV team with their diverse skill sets as well as industry partners. Outside of work Jeff loves spending hot summer days out on the lake with family and friends.
Louis is a founding partner of Hebert Grain Ventures, he is passionate about the business of ag with an entrepreneurial spirit. In his personal time Louis enjoyed coaching minor hockey as his kids grew up, and now enjoys spending time with grandkids and friends.
As a founding partner of Hebert Grain Ventures, Karen’s passion at HGV is being able to see her children and grandchildren grow in the business. In her spare time her favourite thing to do is spend time with her grandchildren.
At the farm, Theresa enjoys watching her kids learn about where their food comes from, being a part of the farm, and enjoying meals in the field.
Personally she enjoys training horses, spending time with family and friends, wherever life takes her she is always up for an adventure.
At work Mariah thrives on the growth of the business and the new challenges it brings to her day. She likes to spend her spare time with her horses or travelling to the mountains.
If Jenn could pick one thing that inspires her the most about working at HGV it would be that there are constant new opportunities. Both expansion as a business and individually. In her spare time she enjoys the great outdoors for hikes with her family and dog.
When it comes to the mechanic world out in the shop, Travis is always up to take on whatever daily challenges are thrown his way and see them through. Outside of work Travis is always on the go and loves watching the kids play hockey and baseball on local teams.
On the Operations side of HGV Dustin is usually tackling the endless project list and especially loves to dig in on a project where he can run the trackhoe. In his time off he can be found working on skidoos in his garage or out for a rip on one of his sleds with his family.
No matter the task in front of him Sean is always willing to lend a hand to get the job done rain or shine. On his days off he enjoys hunting and playing with his sled in the winter.
Courtney stays busy at the farm keeping the Management’s schedules organized and helping out with all the day to day tasks that keep things running smoothly. On her days off, Courtney can usually be found at the Rink watching her kids playing hockey and Curling. Summer days she spends enjoying the sun and cheering on her kids at the ball fields!
Having a fantastic team to be part of and skilled team mates to depend on is what Josh values most about working at HGV. When he isn’t busy at the farm he enjoys travelling with his family.
Chad’s favourite time of year is seeding. He is always eager to get into the drill! Chad is a family man and spends most of his time playing sports and coaching at the rink.
Tax Partner, MNP Regina
Wayne Paproski is a Partner with MNP’s Taxation team in the Regina office, as well as a member of MNP’s national Transaction Tax Services team. Drawing on 17 years of experience in public accounting and 15 years in tax consulting, Wayne delivers strong advice and tailored solutions that help ensure clients comply with ever-changing tax regulations and pay the least amount of tax possible. Wayne focuses on corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, succession, personal and corporate tax planning and estate planning. Among his key clients are private companies active in the oil and gas and agricultural sectors. Wayne was designated a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2003. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.
Advisor
Dr. Danny Klinefelter is an Honors Professor, Regents Fellow, and Extension Economist Emeritus with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1979, where he was a National Science Foundation Research Fellow.
Dr. Klinefelter directed the Masters of Agribanking program from 1979-1982, until he left Texas A&M during the farm financial crisis. He was the founder and director of The Executive Program for Agricultural Producers (TEPAP), for 25 years, co-director of the Texas A&M Family and Owner-Managed Business Program and served as executive secretary for the Association of Agricultural Production Executives (AAPEX) for 20 years. He was co-author of Coordinated Financial Statements for Agriculture (CFS) which served as much of the basis for the recommendations of the FFSTF (now the FFSC). He has been a member of the board of AgTexas Farm Credit Services since 2002 and is a member of several private company boards and advisory boards. In addition, he served as the chairman of the Advisory Board of Top Producer Executive network (TPEN), a national association of agricultural producer peer advisory groups.
Legal Counsel
For more than 15 years, Mark Dolan has delivered cost-effective legal representation to businesses and individuals throughout Saskatchewan and beyond. His practice concentrates primarily on corporate commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning with a focus on agricultural operations.
Mark obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2000 and Bachelor of Laws degree in 2003, both from the University of Saskatchewan. Mark was admitted to the bar in 2004 and is a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Saskatoon Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association.
Chief Operating Officer, Hebert Grain Ventures
Jeff Warkentin has been the Chief Operating Officer with Hebert Grain Ventures since the spring of 2017. Before this, he held positions with progressive responsibilities with various Agricultural companies including United Grain Growers, Pioneer Grain, Agricore United, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, and Viterra. His designated management role with Viterra started with the regional manager of special crops which included the management of people, assets and inventory for twelve processing plants across Western Canada and the Northern United States. He then moved into the role of Market Center Manager of Grain responsible for sales and operations of five high throughput elevators (excess of one million mT) and the addition of an agriproducts line which included management of fifteen remote farm supply sites. Jeff graduated from the University of Manitoba with a diploma in Agriculture.
This unique skillset allowed Jeff to move into a producer operation role with Hebert Grain Ventures. His responsibilities include the human resources function, technology implementation, and grain and crop input price discovery for a 30,000-acre grain farm.
Founding Partner, Hebert Grain Ventures & Hebert Livestock Ventures
Louis Hebert is the founding partner of Hebert Grain Ventures and Hebert Livestock Ventures based in Fairlight, Saskatchewan. Hebert Grain Ventures is owned and operated in a partnership with his son Kristjan. Hebert Livestock Ventures is owned and operated in a partnership with his son Kyle. Louis has been passionate about agriculture for his whole life, going out on his own to plant his first crop in 1978. The introduction of the next generation into the operations has added even more fire to his passion for sustainability and legacy.
The farms operate under a legacy vision of leaving the land, the financial statements, and the industry in a better state than the last generation. This drives management practices focused on long term health, sustainability as well as profits. Louis has always been keen on Ag water management, implementing zero till to conserve water almost immediately upon its concept. Furthermore, proper drainage policies to improve efficiency and utilise resources to their fullest potential, all the while protecting surface water on the Livestock land for pastures, dugouts etc.
Louis has served on the board of directors for the Advantage Coop, District 5 ADD board, Lower Souris Watershed, as well is a councillor for Rm #91. In his personal time Louis enjoyed coaching minor hockey as the kids grew up, as well as spending time with grandkids and friends at this stage of life.
Louis was born with an entrepreneurial spirit, a business focused mind, coupled with a passion for family and farming. This unique combination has allowed him to strive for success by being progressive, but always focusing on the long term strategy of sustainable practices and business health to ensure the farming operations could be operated for generations to come.
Managing Partner, Hebert Grain Ventures
Kristjan Hebert is the President of the Hebert Group and Managing Partner of Hebert Grain Ventures (HGV), a 30,000-acre grain and oilseed operation in southeast Saskatchewan. He’s also the co-founder of Maverick Ag Consulting, a business risk management and consulting firm, and Farmer Coach, a business management coaching program for farmers.
In addition to his farming background, he is a CPA and has worked for MNP in a past career; he is the Chairman of Global Ag Risk Solutions and is a graduate of Texas A&M’s the Executive Program for Agricultural Producers (TEPAP).
Danny Klinefelter, of TEPAP, refers to Kristjan as, “One of the most progressive young farmers I know.”

Evan Shout is the president and co founder of Maverick Ag Ltd, a business risk management and consulting firm focused on insurance and data analytics. He also sits as chief financial officer at Hebert Grain Ventures (HGV), a 30,000-acre grain and oilseed operation in southeast Saskatchewan. Evan is also the co-founder and lead coach at Farmer Coach, a business management coaching program for farmers.
Evan is a CPA and worked with MNP in his past career, having a specialty in large-scale primary producer grain operations. He also was a shareholder in Shout Farms Ltd, a family grain farming operation in central Saskatchewan until January of 2014. His passion for the industry drives a calling that includes operational management of human resources, technology, data collection and financial and business risk management practices that will assist primary producer operations into the next generation of agriculture.
The goal is to change the face of financial risk management in agriculture, leaving the dirt, financial statements and industry in a better state than the last generation.
